Carrier Sponsors 7th Annual International Summit at 2013 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As rapid global urbanization strengthens the business case for green building, Carrier is proud to help connect international green building thought leaders as the presenting sponsor of Greenbuild's 2013 International Summit. Carrier, the world's leader in high-technology heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) solutions and founding company number one of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Today's summit, the fourth consecutive to be sponsored by Carrier, brought together hundreds of green building professionals from roughly 30 countries to discuss the latest in international green building. With the United Nations projecting two-thirds of the world's population will live in urban environments by 2050 and the U.S. Energy Information Administration expecting world energy consumption to rise 56 percent between 2010 and 2040, this year's International Summit addressed the case for and benefits of green building.
The full-day event featured a variety of breakout sessions designed to educate participants on trends and best practices, ranging from "Investing in Sustainable Urban Development" to "Harnessing Data to Affect Change." John Mandyck, chief sustainability officer, UTC Building & Industrial Systems, and chair of the Corporate Advisory Board of the World Green Building Council, presented the lunchtime plenary address on the global context for action to accelerate sustainable buildings while also offering views on the importance of green schools and the recent work of the Global Coalition for Green Schools.
"Today's event facilitated timely conversation among those who are working to balance growing energy demands with sustainable solutions," said Mandyck. "We were proud to help convene international green building thought leaders with professionals from around the world to accelerate the momentum for green buildings."
Mandyck will also be moderating a panel discussion on Thursday, Nov. 21, titled "Motivating Green Building Around the World." Cristina Gamboa, CEO of the Colombia Green Building Council, and Tai Lee Siang, Immediate Past President of the Singapore Green Building Council, will help participants understand key drivers of global green building trends, while providing a forum to share best practices.
