"The Forum takes place at an opportune time for Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean since it follows on the heels of visits from two major world leaders, the Vice-President of the USA as well as the President of the People's Republic of China. It shows that we are already recognized as a creditable destination for foreign direct investment," says Kelvin Mahabir, President of invesTT.
CIF 2013 will bring together chairpersons, board members, CEOs, CFOs of leading global companies, heads of government and ministers and regional and international business representatives for two days of high level meetings and information sharing. Participants will be coming to the Caribbean nation from regions such as North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe.
The Forum agenda includes more than 100 local, regional and international speakers and panelists, with unparalleled networking opportunities to meet and discuss new business and investment prospects. Notable speakers include Kamla Persad-Bissessar, first female Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago; Soo Hyun Kang, former Executive President of Hyundai Heavy Industry and Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Homemade, Inc.
Plenary Sessions will focus on critical issues such as entrepreneurship and innovation, while parallel sessions will focus on key investment-ready industries in the Caribbean, including: Maritime, Agribusiness, Creative Industries and Tourism.
Trinidad and Tobago has a rich history of success in the petroleum and natural gas sector. Today, Trinidad and Tobago continues to fuel success in this industry but is also taking a strategic approach to expand and diversify its dynamic non-oil and gas sectors significantly. The recent visit by two major world leaders follows a long tradition of trade and investment between the twin-isle republic, the USA and the People's Republic of China.
Trinidad and Tobago is an emerging hub for e-business and technology firms. Low operating costs, quality workforce and easy access to the Spanish and English speaking Latin American and Caribbean countries are among many of the advantages Trinidad and Tobago offer companies looking to relocate or expand.
