Campus Advantage Communities Across the Country Take Action to Support the People of Haiti

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Over the last few weeks student residents of Campus Advantage properties have been busy working to raise funds, gather supplies and increase awareness about the immediate needs of those suffering from the impact of the January 12 earthquake in Haiti.

"The communities of students that are coming together to help those impacted by the tragedy in Haiti are demonstrating a commitment to taking action for the good of others," said Dan Oldersdorf, vice president of residence life at Campus Advantage. Across the country Campus Advantage communities are carrying out a number of initiatives to help those affected by last month's earthquake. However, in many cases the impact of these efforts can be greatly increased if the larger community gets involved. Here are a few examples of efforts currently underway:    

Corpus Christi, Texas:

Residents of Islander Village are collecting shoes for all ages for both males and females. This effort has already generated more than a hundred pairs of shoes. Members of the community are urged to call (361) 985-9595 for more information on how to make a donation.

College Station, Texas:

Residents of Stadium View Apartments are conducting a clothing drive to donate to the Red Cross. Members of the community that would like to participate should call (800) 516-0952 for more information.

Blacksburg, Virginia:

Residents of Windsor Hills Apartments have worked to raise funds for Onepace, an organization that is helping support children in a Haitian pediatrics ward. Additionally, the community is conducting a clothing drive and has already collected more than thirty large bags for donation. Individuals with donations should call (540) 552-1515.

Gainesville, Florida:

Residents of The District on 62nd are conducting a clothing drive that will run through the end of February. Neighbors in the Gainesville region that would like to participate should call (888) 869-3269 for additional information.
