Cameron Dye and Sarah Haskins Win St. Anthony's Triathlon

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Americans Cameron Dye and Sarah Haskins beat out a field of high-caliber athletes to win the 27th annual St. Anthony's Triathlon.

After finishing seventh last year at St. Anthony's, 26-year-old Dye of Boulder, Colo., captured his first championship title at St. Anthony's Triathlon in 1:48:44. "This is huge," said Dye, 26, "This is my first major win. It's a great way to start off the season. St. Anthony's puts on an amazing race."

Australians Greg Bennett, 38, took second in 1:49:04, with two-time reigning Ironman World Champion Craig Alexander finishing in third, 10 seconds behind Bennett. "I love this race," said Alexander, 37. "It's one of the best. What we like is the atmosphere and the quality of the competition. This year was no exception."

In the professional women's division, Sarah Haskins, 29, led from start to finish claiming her second championship title at St. Anthony's Triathlon with a time of 1:58:49. "I had a strong swim and my goal was to really push it on the bike," said the Colorado Springs, Colo., resident. "This is my fourth time competing at St. Anthony's. I love this race, and I plan on coming back next year."

Australian Mirinda Carfrae, 29, took home second in 2:00:20, and American Jillian Petersen, 27, finished in third in 2:00:35 after competing for the first time at St. Anthony's.

Sunday's St. Anthony's Triathlon, an Olympic-distance race sponsored and produced by St. Anthony's Hospital, was capped off by a weekend of multisport events including the Sports & Fitness Expo on Friday and Saturday, one of triathlon's largest sports and fitness expos with more than 48 vendors, and St. Anthony's Meek & Mighty Triathlon on Saturday, a shorter-distance race for youths and novice adults. The weekend of events draws more than 5,000 athletes from more than 46 states and 18 countries and 10,000 spectators.
