Calamos Investments Hires Fixed Income Co-CIO
R. Matthew "Matt" Freund Joins the Firm from USAA To Lead Expansion into Fixed Income, Credit and Alternative Products
NAPERVILLE, Ill., Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Calamos Investments, global investment management firm, has appointed R. Matthew "Matt" Freund, CFA as co-Chief Investment Officer, Head of Fixed Income Strategies, to spearhead the firm's further expansion into fixed income, credit and alternative products, announced John Koudounis, Calamos Chief Executive Officer. Freund joins Calamos from USAA Investments, where he was Chief Investment Officer of USAA Investments, leading the teams responsible for the portfolio management of USAA's mutual funds and affiliated portfolios, including P&C and life insurance products, and overseeing more than $140 billion in assets.

Freund's career spans more than 25 years of investment management experience and over 20 years at USAA, which he joined in 1994. As Chief Investment Officer at USAA, his responsibilities included fixed income and equity investments, trading and research, as well as serving as lead portfolio manager for several highly regarded fixed income mutual funds.
