CAIR-San Antonio Asks FBI to Probe Hate Vandalism of Muslim Family's Home

SAN ANTONIO, July 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The San Antonio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SA) today called on state and local law enforcement authorities and the FBI to investigate a possible bias-motivated attack on a Muslim family home in that city.

Family members, who are of Pakistani heritage, told CAIR-SA they discovered the word "terrorist" spray-painted on their house on Wednesday morning. That evening, the family reports that someone rang their doorbell, then started banging on the door. The lone female in the house said she then heard firecrackers being thrown at the door. Police are investigating both incidents.

CAIR-SA has asked the FBI to join the investigation.

"Because of the apparent bias motive for the graffiti, and because the home was targeted twice in a short period of time, we urge local law enforcement authorities and the FBI to investigate this case as a possible hate crime," said CAIR-SA President Sarwat Husain.

Earlier today, CAIR called for a hate crime investigation of a "suspicious" fire targeting a Missouri mosque.
