Cain, Pawlenty To Sign the Strong America Now Pledge to Reduce Waste in Government
DES MOINES, Iowa, June 16, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Presidential hopefuls Herman Cain and Gov. Tim Pawlenty have agreed to sign Strong America Now's pledge promising to tackle the debt and deficit by applying a waste-elimination process to the federal government if elected president. Candidate Newt Gingrich signed the plan last week in New Hampshire.
"Our grassroots movement is gaining momentum as candidates realize our commonsense, grassroots plan can save our country from financial ruin," said Strong America Now founder, Mike George. "Candidates realize that Americans want the government to tackle this issue and tackle it in a manner that is proven and effective."
Strong America Now's plan calls for every department, agency, and program in the federal government to go through the waste elimination process known as Lean Six Sigma, which has a proven record of success in numerous Fortune 500 companies, the United States Army, Naval Aviation, and countless municipalities across the country.
"The first time I learned about Lean Six Sigma, I knew it was a solution worth looking into," said Gov. Pawlenty. "This plan can help put our country back on track."
Cain feels similarly.
"I believe Lean Six Sigma could be effectively used at the federal level. It has been successful in saving money in the private sector, and I am confident it can do the same for government, given the right leadership is in office to oversee the process."
Cain and Pawlenty will sign the Strong America Now pledge at the Deficit Free America Summit on June 18th in Des Moines, Iowa. Presidential candidates, the media, politicians, and concerned Americans, including the group's 15,000 members are encouraged to attend the event.
