Boutique Hotel Re-opens for 2010 Season with Renovated Rooms
NEW YORK, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- To follow up on its roaring first year, c/o The Maidstone hotel in East Hampton, New York will re-open for the 2010 season on April 2nd with new, original designs in seventeen rooms. Jenny Ljungberg, Proud Owner, purchased the landmark property in November 2008, and this marks the second phase of her hotel re-design.
After closing for the winter months, the hotel will unveil room decor developed to entice hotel guests, connoisseurs of Scandinavian culture, and travelers. Ljungberg explains, "We hope new and returning guests will be comforted by our attention to detail and share in our enthusiasm for revitalizing historic properties while continuing to provide something beyond the everyday hotel experience." The unique guest rooms inspired by Scandinavian luminaries are a continuation of Ljungberg's 2009 collaboration with Hotel Designer Nadia Tolstoy when the two developed the hotel's lounge, restaurant, and common areas. All the new rooms are completely different, encouraging return visits, conversation and intrigue.
The new designs include tributes to popular designers, historical figures and cultural icons. Ljungberg comments, "Our heritage is full of exciting cultural references. Each room sparks a dialogue with guests that will nurture their desire to live a cultivated life." Danish furniture designer Verner Panton comes to life in a room with bright, vibrant colors and multiple curvilinear furnishings. c/o Hotels' love of storytelling is evident in the Astrid Lindgren room which immerses guests in the adventures of literary heroine Pippi Longstocking. Additional highlights include odes to Eero Saarinen and Arne Jacobsen, North and South Pole explorer Roald Amunsden, and scientist/philanthropist Alfred Nobel. Tolstoy adds, "We selected personalities who conveyed a solid design direction, ensuring each room would have a character of its own. It's amazing how the ethos of the Scandinavian designers we chose continues to define what is considered modern today."
Purchased in 2008 by Sweden's c/o Hotels, c/o The Maidstone hotel is tailored to the guest who appreciates sophisticated design, gourmet dining, and personalized service. The hotel's restaurant, The Living Room, and its Cozy Lounge are leading proponents of the slow food movement. The experience is enhanced by one of the East End's most substantial wine cellars.
