BlueKite Developers Nominated for NASA International Space Apps Challenge
MIAMI, May 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BlueKite (http://www.bluekite.com) a leading provider of international bill-payment services, today announced that two of its Guatemala City-based developers Rodolfo Maldonado and Diego Figueroa, were nominated for NASA's International Space Apps Challenge - according to NASA, the "galaxy's largest mass collaboration ever."
Over 9,000 individuals and 484 organizations from around the world came together over the weekend of April 21st, in 83 cities around the world, to collectively tackle 58 software, hardware and data visualization challenges.
The top projects, including the Sync application created by BlueKite's team (http://spaceappschallenge.org/project/sync/), are now selected for a global prize, and could win spaceflight training packages and launch invitations to the MAVEN launch in November of 2013.
The team's Sync app is designed to run on a PaaS like Heroku and watch git or svn repositories as well as static files for changes, and then mirror those to http://github.com/nasa. Sync is an innovative solution that allows users to visually and easily administer each project's state, configure synchronization settings (interval, destination repository, etc.), and send updates to people involved with any project.
"We are foremost a technology company that believes in innovation, the sharing of new ideas and finding solutions that make the world a better place," noted Bobby Aitkenhead, CEO of BlueKite. "Our sincere congratulations to Diego and Rodolfo, we are so proud of you and will continue to offer our support as the final competition gets on its way."
Global winners will be chosen on May 22. For more on Sync and NASA's International Space Apps Challenge, go to http://spaceappschallenge.org/project/sync/.
