Birds of a Feather Trot Together at the 10th Annual Shippan Turkey Trot
Runners in Costume Race to Raise Money for Local Homeless Shelter
STAMFORD, Conn., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Shippan Turkey Trot is celebrating its tenth year in the running this Thanksgiving. For the last nine years, friends and family have gathered in the Shippan neighborhood of Stamford, CT on Thanksgiving morning for a tradition of physical endurance, creative expression and most importantly, charitable giving. In just the last two years, runners have raised over $1,500 in donations for the Stamford, CT's Shelter for the Homeless... and they've done it while running the race in awesome costumes. And now for the first time in the Shippan Turkey Trot's run, this year's race has been opened up to the public.
"This is something my whole family looks forward to every year," said Stamford resident and hunky fireman, Jeff Piedmont. "The friends and the costumes are great, but being able to give something back is what really sets this race apart."
The race kicks off at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 25th. All donations go to the Shelter for the Homeless. The prize ceremony will take place immediately after the last contestant crosses the finish line. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.
