VALENCIA, Calif., July 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Bioness, Inc., the leading provider of cutting-edge, clinically supported rehabilitation therapies, today announced it has begun shipping the Bioness Integrated Therapy System (BITS) with its new Bedside and Mobile hardware configurations to domestic and Canadian customers, with EU shipments beginning in August.
BITS is a touchscreen-based platform that operates a rehabilitative software application featuring 24 unique programs and four standardized assessments to challenge and assess a patient's physical, visual, auditory, and cognitive abilities. These programs and assessments are appropriate for use by occupational, physical, and speech therapists, and also provide applications for athletic training. The BITS Bedside and Mobile configurations are especially beneficial for those with mobility restrictions who are not able to maintain an upright posture. BITS Bedside and Mobile promotes patient participation in therapy even when they may not be able to stand, sit and/or experience mobility challenges.
"With BITS Bedside & Mobile, patients are able to begin innovative, interactive therapies much earlier than they would have otherwise," said Debra Ouellette, MS, OTR/L, BCPR, SCLV, Occupational Therapist and Clinical Coordinator at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare. "These additional configurations support those who are not able to leave their hospital room for rehabilitation activities. Research supports initiation of therapy early in patient recovery and the BITS allows for a more engaging approach to motor, cognitive, and visual therapies bedside."
"As one of the most utilized patient engagement tools in rehabilitation, we are excited to offer additional BITS configurations to motivate patients and ease clinician workload," said Todd Cushman, President and CEO of Bioness. "A key component of successful rehabilitation is patient engagement. The BITS Bedside and Mobile expand utilization by providing user-friendly configurations tailored to the specific needs of each therapy discipline."
In addition to the U.S. launch of BITS Bedside and Mobile, the entire BITS product portfolio is now available in German and French languages (in addition to English and Spanish) to support international market expansion. This month BITS will be commercially available for sale in Canada and the European Union with Bedside and Mobile configurations arriving late August or early September.
About the Bioness Integrated Therapy System (BITS)
BITS is a multi-disciplinary therapy solution designed to motivate patients and improve clinician efficiency. BITS' interactive touchscreen and diverse program options challenge patient performance through the use of visual motor activities, visual and auditory processing, cognitive skills and endurance training. The BITS software and assessments work to rehabilitate in the areas of occupational, physical, and speech therapies, and can also be used in exercises for athletic training. BITS Bedside and BITS Mobile are two configurations for those not able to be upright, allowing patients to participate in these assessments and challenges while in a controlled rehabilitation space, so their progress is not hindered by an inability to stand or sit during recovery.
