Gail was on a Suzuki GS XR 750cc when she was involved in a collision as she overtook a tractor. She was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
Gail was widely known in the motorcycling world because of her popular Friday night programme on the internet radio station Biker FM. Her nickname was 'Catlass' and the show highlighted the thrills of road racing on a motorbike and also boasted music and interviews with a host of road racing stars.
Gail was riding with another biker who was on a Kawasaki ZX 1000cc on the Saturday of the crash on a popular route through the Dales. They joined a third rider for the latter part of the journey. A statement issued by the North Yorkshire police said that the lead rider failed to stop at the scene unaware of the tragic series of events leading to Gail's death, which happened behind him. However, he has now come forward. An investigation into the accident is looking at the circumstances of why it happened, and an inquest will look into the cause of death.
The owner of http://www.BikerFM.co.uk Suggsy Blackburn said: "She spoke to every single road racer that Britain's got to offer. Last year she broadcast live from the pits at the Isle of Man TT and totally lived and breathed everything bikes, and I know she was a competent rider as well."
Mr Blackburn added that lots of her fellow radio presenters would attend her funeral and that there will be a tribute broadcast to her memory on Friday at the time of her programme.
