Zoomdata allows users to analyze multiple sources of data share and share their visualizations with others, creating a "data quilt" at the grass-roots level instead of requiring top-down enterprise data modeling.
Zoomdata also today announced it has closed $1.1M in seed-round funding from a set of leading angel and institutional investors. The 12-person company will use the funding to add to its current seven person engineering team to rapidly drive product innovation. Zoomdata is currently deployed in beta at several top-tier customers.
As big data emerges as a massive opportunity for businesses of all sizes, it is also presenting huge challenges that are not adequately addressed by current approaches. Current big data solutions are complex and typically require a data scientist to create queries and process jobs. They also require advance modeling of data into relational database structure and most approaches only visualize data using legacy visuals.
Zoomdata is the next-generation data processing and visualization system that overcomes today's big data challenges of speed, access, and ease of use by providing:
- Stream Processing: enables customers to integrate multiple data sources into a single real-time stream of business insights
- Visualization: transforms data into gorgeous real-time "data art," including real time, historical, and future views, zoom-in and zoom-out, touch, pan, pause, rewind, and fast-forward functionalities
- Access/Sharing: allows users to securely save, share, and collaborate on real-time visualizations
- Platforms Support: drives real-time visualizations on tablet, web, and TV devices
"Zoomdata turns real-time big data streams into three-dimensional tactile data art," said Zoomdata Founder & CEO Justin Langseth. "Zoomdata tablet users can pinch-zoom through beautiful visualizations of their data from the highest to lowest levels --all updated in real time. We are making big data real-time and accessible to everyone."
"Zoomdata is well positioned to disrupt and lead the big data space," said Zoomdata angel investor and advisor Hemang Gadhia, former Founder & CEO, Condaptive (acquired by Millennial Media). "The genius of Zoomdata is that it bypasses legacy ETL and database stacks by directly turning raw data streams into beautiful, interactive visuals on mobile devices."
Pete Jobse, President & CEO of the Center for Innovative Technology in Virginia, said, "The challenges in analyzing big data are immense, as are the opportunities. CIT leverages public and private investments in companies such as Zoomdata with the potential to generate extraordinary returns and results in the marketplace."
Zoomdata is led by founder & CEO Justin Langseth, who brings over 20 years of big data and entrepreneurial experience. Langseth was previously co-founder & President of Clarabridge, and previously also co-founded Claraview, which was acquired by Teradata, and Strategy.com - a former subsidiary of MicroStrategy.
