Best-Selling Author Cheryl Strayed to Appear at Vermont College of Fine Arts

MONTPELIER, Vt., July 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Vermont College of Fine Arts  (VCFA), a national center for graduate education in the arts, announced today that best-selling author Cheryl Strayed will be interviewed by VCFA President Thomas Christopher Greene in front of a live audience on Friday, August 15th, 2014 at 5pm. The event will take place in Alumni Hall, 4 College Street, Montpelier.

Cheryl Strayed is the author of #1 New York Times bestseller WILD, the New York Times bestseller TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS, and the novel TORCH. WILD was chosen by Oprah Winfrey as her first selection for Oprah's Book Club 2.0. Jean-Marc Vallée is directing the film adaptation of WILD, starring Reese Witherspoon, with a screenplay by Nick Hornby. The film is being produced by Pacific Standard and will be distributed by Fox Searchlight in fall 2014. Thomas Christopher Greene is the founding president of Vermont College of Fine Arts. Tom was born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts. He has worked in a staple factory; as an oyster shucker; a speechwriter and spokesperson for a presidential campaign; the director of public affairs for two colleges; and as a professor of writing and literature. In 2006, Tom founded Vermont College of Fine Arts, a top New England graduate arts college, making him the youngest college president in America at that time. The Headmaster's Wife is Tom's fourth novel. He lives in Vermont with his wife and daughter.
