NORFOLK, Va., June 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Beacon Health Options, the nation's largest privately held behavioral health management company, is pleased to announce it will host its fourth annual Stamp Out Stigma Golf Outing on Tuesday, July 19, at noon, at the Bayville Golf Club in Virginia Beach. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the National Military Family Association (NMFA), which provides support and guidance for military members and their families.
"Behind our brave service men and women, there are family members who share in their sacrifice and provide unending support," said Kerry Mooney, President, ValueOptions Federal Services, Inc., a Beacon Health Options company. "We are so proud to support the National Military Family Association and the important advocacy work they do on behalf of our military families, including the association's vital programs and services."
Net proceeds from this year's outing will help the nonprofit organization with its Operation Purple® programs, including camps that help children deal with a parent's deployment; family retreats that aim to help strengthen families after deployment; and its healing adventures program for families of service members who are wounded, ill or injured. The funds will also help provide scholarships to military spouses, as well as support many other programs.
"We're proud to partner with Beacon Health Options for the second year in a row to highlight the importance of connecting military families with the resources they need," said Joyce Raezer, NMFA Executive Director. "We are committed to improving awareness of the value of mental health services and ensuring military families know they can seek help without fear. We are honored to be aligned with the Stamp Out Stigma cause again this year and value Beacon's support."
Registration is $375 per person and $1,500 per foursome. All single and team registrations include driving range, green and cart fees, boxed lunch, prizes and awards, reception and a commemorative golf shirt. About Stamp Out Stigma
Launched in 2013 by Beacon Health Options, the Stamp Out Stigma initiative is now spearheaded by the Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness, in which Beacon is a member. The initiative aims to promote the eradication of stigma surrounding mental illness and substance use disorder, as stigma acts as a barrier to people seeking the mental health and substance use disorder care they need to recover. The campaign challenges people to recognize the high prevalence of mental illness and substance use disorder in order to transform the dialogue about both, from a whisper behind closed doors to a conversation.
