Bay Valley Foods Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk in Mislabeled Walmart Great Value Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup
OAK BROOK , Ill., April 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bay Valley Foods is recalling 188,181 pounds of Walmart Great Value Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (milk). The product label indicates that the can contains Chicken Noodle soup; however, the can may contain Cream of Chicken soup. The soup contains milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the label. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this alert, and there is no risk to consumers who are not allergic to milk.
The recalled cans of Walmart Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup were distributed through Walmart stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming.
The recalled product, Walmart Great Value Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup, comes in 10.5 ounce cans bearing the UPC Code 78742 02083 and is marked with a "Best by" date code of "Best By 09 29 12" that can be found on the bottom of each can. Each can bottom also bears the establishment number "P-51".
Consumers who have purchased the recalled Great Value Low Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup may return it to a Walmart store for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Bay Valley Foods Consumer Response Department at 1-800-983-0823.
