Bastyr University Names New President

KENMORE, Wash., May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After an extensive nationwide search, Bastyr University selects Charles "Mac" Powell, PhD, as its new president. He will oversee the University's campuses and clinics located in Washington state and California.

Dr. Powell comes to Bastyr from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA, where he served as president. He takes over for outgoing Bastyr President Daniel K. Church, PhD, who steps down at the end of June after a decade in that position.

Dr. Powell received his B.A. in sociology/philosophy, M.A. in clinical psychology and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Missouri. He holds additional degrees from National University in San Diego, CA and Antioch University in Marina Del Rey, CA.  He is also an author of books on both golf and marriage and family therapy.

Dr. Powell's first day at Bastyr University will be July 1, 2015.
