Basis Brings Style to Fitness Trackers with New Peak Titanium Edition, Stylish Leather Accessory Straps and New Features
Ultimate Fitness and Sleep Tracker Expands Product Line, Adds Apple Health and Google Fit Data Syncing via App Update
SAN FRANCISCO, May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Basis, an Intel company, today announced a limited release Titanium Edition of its ultimate fitness and sleep tracker, Basis Peak, along with a new line of fashionable leather accessory straps. The Titanium Edition includes the same activity, fitness and sleep tracking features in a durable, forged titanium case paired with an exclusive leather strap. The new line of leather accessory straps come in a variety of colors including Noir, Fog, Saddle, Khaki and Blush, in addition to the five colors of SportVent straps already available.
Several new features will be introduced via an app update today, including data syncing with Apple Health and Google Fit, which allows users to share Peak data with popular health and diet tracking apps for a more comprehensive view of activity, fitness, diet and sleep. The update also offers access to Basis Peak Playground, which allows users to experience and provide feedback on experimental features. A firmware update, available May 20, will also add a stopwatch function and improved heart rate tracking.
Launched in late 2014, Peak is based on a multi-sensor design that provides a comprehensive picture of fitness and sleep activities, including 24/7 heart rate monitoring even during exercise. Peak also offers smartwatch notifications for text messages, phone calls and calendar events. Designed for allday wear, Peak offers a battery life of up to four days and water resistance of up to 5 ATM, and is customizable with a range of comfortable and breathable SportVent straps in a variety of colors.
"We are thrilled to expand the Peak lineup with the sleek Titanium Edition, the highest quality Basis to date, along with a new line of leather accessory straps, giving customers more ways to make a comprehensive fitness tracking experience fit into their lives and reflect their personal style," said Jef Holove, general manager of Basis, an Intel company. "Our Apple Health and Google Fit integrations have been one of the most requested features from our users, and we're excited to offer these updates as part of an easy, seamless user experience, regardless of a user's preferred mobile ecosystem, and continue to deliver deep, personal insights into their daily habits."
Titanium Edition
The new Titanium Edition of Basis Peak features comprehensive activity, fitness and sleep tracking capabilities in a satin finish Grade II titanium case that resists nicks, scratches and corrosion. An Onyx (black) SportVent silicone strap offers a durable and breathable strap option to wear during exercise. A Cognac (caramel brown) leather strap is another option for a more refined aesthetic.
Stylish Leather Straps
Adding to the sleek look and feel of Peak, Basis is also announcing a line of high-quality, stylish leather accessory straps. Available in five colors including Noir (black), Fog (grey), Saddle (caramel), Khaki (light tan) and Blush (light pink), the straps are made of genuine leather from the U.S. and Italy and feature quick release pins, making them easy to swap out for a SportVent or standard Peak strap when exercising.
New Software Features
Available today as an update for all Peak users, Basis is allowing data syncing with Apple Health and Google Fit with the Peak app. These integrations allow users to share key Peak fitness data with several health and diet tracking apps for a more comprehensive picture of activities, fitness, diet and sleep. Metrics such as heart rate, calories burned, start/stop time, durations of runs, walks and bike rides and sleep duration are exportable for analysis by third-party apps compatible with Apple Health and Google Fit.
Launching on May 20, a firmware update will include a new stopwatch feature with basic functions like start, stop, lap and reset for users looking to track activities such as interval training. Additionally, a new feature called Basis Peak Playground will debut with the app update to allow users to test potential future features and provide feedback to Basis. The first experimental features offered are Geo Location, which will display a map showing the approximate location of activities in the dashboard, as well as Photo Finish, a fun way for users to snap a selfie and select their current mood after a run and then track their mood over time.
Improvements to heart rate detection will improve heart rate monitoring in normal and active usage such as walking, running or biking.
