BEIJING, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, today announced that the enterprise data warehouse built by Teradata for the Bank of Shanghai (BOS) was awarded the Best IT Implementation of 2009 at the recent China-U.S. CIO Summit.

The distinguished awards for Best IT Implementation of 2009 were given to those projects which achieved high efficiency, value and cost-effectiveness. The projects must also have effectively solved crucial issues in the enterprise, and clearly enhanced its management and business development.
The BOS completed the consolidation of 19 source systems onto the Teradata data warehouse platform at the end of 2009, which included the core business management capability, the personal loan and the credit risk management systems. This enabled the data warehouse to provide business intelligence to both management and business operations, which included enterprise business performance reporting, anti-money laundry and statistical reports for business units.
By integrating data from major business systems across the bank, BOS lowered the total cost of ownership by reducing data movement, on-going operating expenses, and eliminating unnecessary storage and system deployment.
BOS acquired the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse 5500, which scales to 14 petabytes of user data. BOS selected the Teradata CEO Dashboard, an enterprise business performance indicator application software, as well as the Teradata Product Integration Framework, an enterprise portal product. BOS and Teradata have also established a joint implementation team of 24 full-time professionals consisting of senior business consultants, architects and technical consultants.
"As a global leader in data warehousing and business intelligence, Teradata is delighted and honored to have helped the financial services leader, Bank of Shanghai, to win the Best IT Implementation award at the China-U.S. CIO Summit," said Aaron Hsin, vice president, Teradata Greater China Area. "The award demonstrates the success of BOS's strategic planning, and recognizes the bank for use of innovative data warehousing technologies to transform its business."
With completion of the enterprise data warehouse deployment, the bank can begin the next phase of its enterprise intelligence implementation. The enterprise data warehouse will be the foundation to guide the transformation of business operations, integrate enterprise risk management, develop enhanced insights, drive change readiness, and implement a service-oriented infrastructure.
The only organization to facilitate communications between chief information officers of leading U.S. and Chinese companies, the China-U.S. CIO Summit has been held for the previous three years. This year, the summit focused on the theme, "New Opportunities to Create IT Value." The panel of judges included individuals from the SEEC Media Group, Ziff-Davis Media Group, and CIO Insight Magazine. Guidance was provide by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the state-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
