Participating schools include ESSEC (France), Dom Cabral (Brazil), and CEIBS (China). Corporations represented include Petrobras, Standard Bank, and Daimler AG. Leaders from the Center for Creative Leadership (Colorado) and the Centre for Responsible Leadership (Pretoria) are also scheduled to attend.
Babson Undergraduate Dean and GRLI Board Member Dennis Hanno is coordinating the effort. "GRLI's mission is to 'develop a next generation of responsible leaders' through collective and individual actions. The foundation's vision involves a worldwide network of companies and learning institutions characterized by vast action and thorough exchange of learning. The GRLI overarching purpose aligns perfectly with Babson's mission to educate leaders who create great economic and social value. The partnership between Babson and GRLI provides another vehicle in Babson's efforts to produce powerful social value all over the world," Hanno said.
GRLI was formed in 2003, primarily by the European Foundation for Management Development. It is an action oriented group of over 60 organizations (both academic institutions and companies) dedicated to developing the next generation of globally responsible leaders. This exclusive group comes from all over the world and mostly outside the US. The organizations involved and GRLI are focused on action and also the intersection and interconnection of management education and practice.
It is truly unique in its focus, and among the many accomplishments in its brief history is the fact that it was one of the key organizations in helping to develop and implement the UN's Principles for Responsible Management Education. GRLI and its members continue to play key roles in the ongoing development and enhancement of PRME. GRLI is a co-convener, member of the Steering Committee and active supporter of PRME.
This will be the first GRLI General Assembly hosted by an academic institution in the US. For information on GRLI, visit http://www.grli.org/.
