Babson College Named Top 20 Undergraduate Business School by Bloomberg BusinessWeek
BABSON PARK, Mass., March 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bloomberg BusinessWeek has ranked Babson College #17 on its 2010 ranking of "The Best Undergraduate Business Schools." Babson is up 6 spots from #23 in 2009 and up 16 spots in just three years.
BusinessWeek ranked 111 colleges that met stringent quality criteria. To identify the best business programs, BusinessWeek used five measures, including survey responses of more than 27,000 graduating seniors at top schools and a poll of 236 undergraduate recruiters.
BusinessWeek calculated letter grades on teaching quality, facilities and services, and job placement based on the student survey.
Babson was ranked in the Top 10 in two facets of the ranking methodology:
- Student Survey - Student satisfaction accounts for 30% of the ranking. In a year when most schools saw a decline in satisfaction Babson rose to 6th place in overall student satisfaction. This also included grades such as an A+ on teaching quality, an A on facilities and services, and an A in job placement.
- Academic Quality - A large component of the ranking is academic quality, which takes into account a broad range of factors--everything from SATs to internship opportunities. On this key component, which accounts for another 30% of the ranking, Babson was ranked #7 in the country.
"This year's ranking demonstrates the strength of Babson's outstanding faculty and academic programs and the continued momentum of our students' appreciation for our excellence across campus - in academics, in student life, in our facilities and services, and in career development," said President Leonard Schlesinger.
"The ranking is another testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire community - students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, families and friends. Congratulations and thank you for all you have done to help achieve this very special recognition," said Undergraduate School Dean Dennis Hanno.
