Roberts, an award winning journalist and leader in the digital media space, joined the company in July 2011 as Vice President and Editor in Chief, News and Audience Development. She has been the driving force behind the brand's news strategy and the exponential growth in social media.
Prior to joining Everyday Health, Roberts was Senior Vice President and Executive Editor of News Corporation's Beliefnet property, where she led video and editorial operations and product development. Before moving to Beliefnet, Roberts spent 17 years at The Washington Post Company, most recently as the editorial leader of washingtonpost.com, where she led her teams to numerous awards, including running the digital coverage of the Virginia Tech shootings that was critical in helping The Washington Post win the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news.
"We are very excited to have Ju-Don take on a broader leadership role at Everyday Health," said Paul Slavin, the SVP/GM, Global News and Everyday Health Studios. "She is the rare journalist who not only knows how to produce deep, impactful storytelling but who also is adept at understanding how to leverage current technologies and emerging digital trends. We are confident in her ability to drive the business forward."
Roberts' journalism career spans over 20 years of experience – much of it as a leader shaping the editorial, community, video and product divisions of renowned news organizations and brands. In addition, Roberts holds leadership and membership roles in the Online News Association, the Online Publishers Association, McCormick New Media Women Entrepreneurs Awards, the National Association of Black Journalists and the Association of Health Care Journalists. In 2003, Roberts was awarded the prestigious Nieman Fellowship, which allowed her to spend a year of graduate study at Harvard University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
"This is a wonderful time to be in the health industry. The conversation around health care is rapidly changing in this country, and people are more attuned than ever to personal health – whether it's because of the national health care debate, state and local prevention efforts, or the rate of personal health care innovations," said Roberts. "Everyday Health is well positioned to bring our users – on every platform -- the news, information and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health. I'm excited to lead that charge."
