Avoid Turning Your Backyard BBQ Into a Trip to the ER
Use a Brillo® Soap Pad to Clean your grill thoroughly and avoid flare ups
WALLED LAKE, Mich., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- With Memorial Day weekend approaching, consumers in communities all across the country are pulling their grills out of hibernation and getting them ready for barbeque season. Backyard BBQers have many different techniques when it comes to cleaning the grill. Some choose to just turn the burner on high and cook off all the leftover grease and food build up and call it good, while others use a bucket of water with harsh, chemical cleaning products. Both of these methods can be messy, difficult and time-consuming, and most importantly can impact the taste and quality of foods prepared on the cooking surface. Grill cleaning can be made fast and easy by using Brillo® Steel Wool Soap Pads with grease fighting soap that cuts through grime on tough-to-clean surfaces.
Leftover food particles on the cooking surface can make food stick and charred remains left over from last season can be a breeding ground for bacteria. Research has shown that cooking food over caked-on residue and gunk has the potential to make those who eat it sick. There is also the potential for dangerous flare ups if build ups of grease are not addressed. Even if you avoid getting burned or becoming ill, cooking on an improperly cleaned grill can also have a negative impact on the flavor of the foods.
"As soon as warm weather hits, the grills come out and are ready to be prepped for the season," said Jeremy Bakken, Public Relations Representative for Brillo. "All consumers need to do is buy a Brillo. It's not just for cleaning pots, pans and glassware. Brillo's steel wool scouring soap pad is the best way to get rid of all that tough build up on your grill. Besides, working with a clean grill grate allows you to make those nice grill lines on the steaks that will impress everyone at your barbeque."
Grill Cleaning Tips:
- Remove cooking grates from grill and scrub with warm water and a Brillo Steel Wool Soap Pad
- For cooked-on, hard-to-clean surfaces turn Brillo sideways and scrub across the grain of the pad
- If it's a charcoal grill, remove the coal grate and brush out the insides
- For gas grills remove briquettes, lava rocks or metal flame shield to expose burner. Clean ash and residue from around burner, be sure burner is in place when finished cleaning
- Rinse grates, reassemble grill, and allow to air dry
