Austin-Based Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center Approved for Grant Funding for Fifth Consecutive Year
AUSTIN, Texas, July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Austin Recovery, the largest and most affordable not-for-profit drug and alcohol treatment center in Texas, has been awarded a grant from the St. David's Foundation for the fifth consecutive year. The grant provides Austin Recovery $356,100 to support residential substance abuse services through Austin Recovery's Dual Recovery Program, geared at helping some of Central Texas' most fragile residents: those battling both drug or alcohol addiction as well as a co-occurring mental and/or mood disorder.

The Dual Recovery Program continues funding for medically indigent clients who have been stabilized in one of several local psychiatric hospitals allowing them to transfer directly to Austin Recovery for intensive residential substance abuse treatment. The grant will fund treatment for 55 clients over the next 12 months who are among the most complex target populations that Austin Recovery serves. Funds cover screening, admission, intensive residential treatment, and limited post-discharge peer recovery support and intensive case management. New to the grant request this year is the inclusion of 8 sessions of peer recovery coaching by Communities for Recovery, and a full time intensive case manager provided by Austin Travis County Integral Care dedicated to some of the cases post discharge.
"The Foundation is very pleased to continue funding this program, particularly given the challenges low income individuals face in securing high quality residential substance abuse services," says Earl Maxwell, CEO of the Foundation. "St. David's Foundation has been an integral partner in helping us address the needs of Central Texans with significant psychiatric issues who require treatment for their addictions," says Jonathan Ross, Austin Recovery's CEO. "This continued partnership supports both of our commitments to helping the most vulnerable members of our community, who would otherwise have no way to access the treatment they so desperately need."
