Audiovox and FLO TV to Roll Out Array of Mobile TV Products in 2010
FLO TV Auto Entertainment System Now Shipping to Dealers Nationwide; Audiovox Also is Offering the FLO TV Personal Television Device
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- International CES, Booth 11006-10506 -- Audiovox Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX) and FLO TV Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), today announced several live mobile TV products, giving consumers even more choices to stay connected to the television programming they love.
Audiovox is now shipping its Advent-branded FLO TV(TM) Auto Entertainment products to car dealers nationwide. In addition, Audiovox-branded FLO TV Auto Entertainment products are being offered this month to nearly 2,000 MERA (Mobile Electronic Retailers Association) 12-volt independent retailers nationwide, with a full rollout to the Company's retail partners to begin shortly. This includes the FLO TV Personal Television, a handheld digital TV that allows consumers to access their favorite content in the palm of their hand.
In addition to in-vehicle entertainment systems, Audiovox will market a personal DVD system later this year in which Audiovox expects to include the FLO TV service -- a move that represents the planned expansion of Audiovox's FLO TV offerings beyond autos to other small screens. All products will be on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show in the Audiovox booth, #11006-10506 in the Central Hall.
"Last year at this time, we announced a collaboration with FLO TV to bring its award-winning live mobile TV service to the automotive market," said Tom Malone, president of Audiovox Electronics Corporation. "This year, I'm pleased to say we not only have delivered on that promise, we also have expanded our relationship considerably for the benefit of our retail channel partners and consumers."
"The combination of our great programming with Audiovox's innovative products and consumer reach deliver on our efforts to bring live mobile TV to every small screen," said Bill Stone, president of FLO TV Incorporated. "Together, we are delivering commercially viable products that create an immersive TV experience across a range of devices and platforms."
All programming subject to change / blackout restrictions. Service subscription required. Service not available everywhere. "Live mobile television" means the FLO TV service transmits channels in real time; no downloading, sideloading or buffering.
