As part of its continued support of the U.S. Ski Team, Audi today announced that it will produce an exclusive, daily behind-the-scenes webcast, powered by Justin.tv from the U.S. Ski Team House in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada for the 2010 Winter Games.
U.S. Ski Team members TJ Lanning and Resi Stiegler, who are currently recovering from injury, are on the ground in Whistler to support their teammates and will host the daily, 15-minute webisodes titled "Live at the Lodge with TJ and Resi." The duo will provide an inside perspective on the action on the hill, while collecting personal footage for a short documentary to air after the athletes have returned home. The webisodes will kick-off on Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. PT/ 9:30 p.m. ET and stream at the same time each day through Feb. 27 at http://www.facebook.com/audi, http://www.justin.tv/audiski and http://www.usskiteam.com.
The daily webcasts will utilize social networking to create a two-way dialogue with fans, bringing them inside the U.S. Ski Team house. Fans' questions can be submitted prior to and during the show for Lanning and Stiegler, or any of their interview subjects, via Twitter @audiski, Facebook posts, and YouTube.
Audi of America recently commissioned the documentary film, Truth in Motion: The U.S. Ski Team's Road to Vancouver, to tell the unique stories of a select group of elite American skiers as they prepared to compete in the 2010 Winter Games. Directed by Brett Morgan, the film premiered on NBC in January, aired on the USA Network and the Universal Sports Network, and is now available for free download on the iTunes store. Audi has sponsored the U.S. Ski Team since 2007.
"Truth in Motion exposed fans to the rigorous process of qualifying for the 2010 Winter Games, and these webisodes give viewers an even deeper insight as the competition begins," said Scott Keogh, Audi of America Chief Marketing Officer. "With an emphasis on performance and technology, Audi is a natural sponsor for the U.S. Ski Team, and we are excited and proud to be able to show fans the pinnacle of their athletic performance."
TJ Lanning and Resi Stiegler have emerged as top U.S. Alpine skiers. At the opening downhill of the 2009 season, at Lake Louise, Canada, Lanning scored a career-best ninth place. Lanning will miss the 2010 Winter Games while recuperating from neck and leg injuries suffered during the World Cup downhill event in Lake Louise in November. Stiegler has represented the United States at every level of alpine ski racing -- Topolino, Whistler Cup, Junior Worlds, World Cup, World Championships and the Olympics. Stiegler injured her left knee when she crashed after hooking a gate during giant slalom training in November. Both are looking forward to providing insiders' perspectives to the games.
