'Auction Blowout' at PA Farm Show Complex to Sell State and Federal Surplus Items, Bring Returns to Taxpayers

HARRISBURG, Pa., July 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Department of General Services will conduct another of its popular "Auction Blowout" sales on Tuesday, July 13, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. Hundreds of state and federal surplus items will be sold to the highest bidder.

The one-day, indoor auction is open to the general public and begins at 9 a.m.  Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. Items can be previewed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, July 12.

All revenue generated by the auction is either returned to the General Fund or to the selling agency.

"This is a great opportunity for the public to buy a variety of business and household products at great prices," said DGS Secretary James P. Creedon. "It is also another way for the commonwealth to generate additional revenue, and further stretch taxpayer dollars."

The auction will feature stainless steel kitchen equipment, exercise equipment, shop tools, furniture, audio, video and entertainment equipment, collectables, surplus clothing and outdoor equipment.

Hundreds of items will be for sale, including a large assortment of furniture, tanning bed and beauty salon equipment, barbers chairs, gun cabinets, tools, machinery, kitchen and snack bar equipment, a golf cart, wheelchairs, cold-weather and rain gear, coveralls, insulated clothing, camo jackets, fuel cans, backpack frames, blankets, duffel bags, wool shirts, blankets, shelter halves, ammo cans, boots, face shields, and gloves, among others.

Additional items for sale include car audio equipment, laptop and desktop computers and peripherals, electronic game systems, plasma and LCD televisions, digital cameras, home stereo equipment, cell phones, tires and rims, collectible knives, radio scanners, as well as a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

The auction also includes automotive equipment, including a Snap-On MOTIS diagnostic tool, with a $1,000 reserve price, as well as a headlight aligner, tool cabinets and auto detailing equipment.

Asset-Auctions will coordinate the public auction. Payments will be taken on-site. Accepted payment methods include cash, certified checks, money orders, and credit cards, including Visa, Discover and Master Card. American Express and personal checks will not be accepted.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex is located at 2300 North Cameron St., Harrisburg.
