AT&T Streamlines Content Purchases to One Click for Samsung Media Hub Consumers
Consumers on AT&T with Samsung devices can now charge TV shows and movie purchases from Samsung Media Hub directly to monthly phone bill
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced the availability of direct carrier billing with AT&T for purchases from Samsung's Media Hub video entertainment service on Samsung devices. The option gives device owners the ability to quickly, easily and securely rent or buy movies, TV episodes and entire seasons directly from their handsets with a single click. Media Hub purchases can also be shared across five Media Hub enabled devices, including Galaxy Tab® devices, connected DVD players, connected home theaters and Smart TVs™ at no extra cost.
Preloaded on the Galaxy S® III and other select Samsung smartphones, Samsung Media Hub offers users access to a vast collection of movies, ranging from blockbusters to the latest independent films, as well as single episodes or full seasons of TV shows, many available the day after original broadcast. Partners providing high-quality and HD content for the service include CBS, Fox, MTV Networks, NBC Universal, Paramount and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. Each movie and TV show delivered through Media Hub is optimized for the best entertainment experience based on the device's screen size, screen type, video resolution, memory type, processor and sound profile.
Because it is easy and secure, direct carrier billing has become a top choice for mobile consumers. Consumers simply select the content they want, confirm payment and instantly start watching while the remainder of the show or movie downloads. All charges appear on their monthly AT&T bill. The Samsung Captivate™ and Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate™ from AT&T will also permit carrier billing options for Media Hub content. The Samsung Galaxy Note™ and Galaxy S® II devices will receive carrier billing capabilities through the upcoming software update to Android™ 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
"With Media Hub, Samsung is delivering a complete, cross-screen entertainment experience. With the addition of direct carrier billing, we are making that experience even easier and accessible to a wider audience," commented Jonathan Kim, Vice President of Content & Services at Samsung's Media Solutions Center America. "We look forward to bringing anywhere, anytime access to the TV shows, movies and other forms of entertainment to more consumers across more devices."
