Atria Books Signs New Deal With #1 Bestselling Author Jamie McGuire

NEW YORK, June 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Atria Books today announced a new publishing agreement with New York Times bestselling author Jamie McGuire for three new novels and one novella.  The first book is RED HILL, a love story set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse, to be published in time for Halloween 2013.

McGuire's most recent novel WALKING DISASTER debuted at No. 1 on both the paperback fiction and ebook fiction bestseller lists of the New York Times (April 21) and at No. 1 on the USA Today  (April 11) bestseller list.  The book went on sale on April 2, and there are currently more than 400,000 print and electronic copies in distribution. 

WALKING DISASTER is a companion to McGuire's previous book BEAUTIFUL DISASTER, which McGuire self-published in 2011 before rights were sold to Atria Books in 2012.  Movie rights to BEAUTIFUL DISASTER have been optioned by Warner Bros.

Jamie McGuire also won the award for Best Romance of 2012 in the first annual Armchair BEA awards, presented at this year's Book Expo.

The deal, for World English and audio rights, was negotiated by Atria Vice President, Senior Editor Greer Hendricks with Jamie's literary agent, Amy Tannenbaum, at the Jane Rotrosen Agency.
