"This addition of an experienced and talented wealth strategist to our Houston team enhances our capabilities in this important region," said Jack Markwalter, chairman and CEO for Atlantic Trust. "Cathy brings more than 30 years of experience in private estate and tax law practice, most recently with Strasburger & Price, LLP, and in wealth planning from Abbot Downing."
Our Houston office is home to a total of nine relationship and portfolio management, client service and business development professionals, and it has more than $1.0 billion in assets under management (as of March 31, 2013). The addition of Schnaubelt allows Atlantic Trust to better serve its existing client base and broaden relationships with many of the premier law firms in Texas that use and will consider Atlantic Trust as a potential trustee and wealth manager for their clients.
"Having someone in-office to review a client's estate plan or to discuss philanthropic strategies with a prospective client will further strengthen our client service efforts in Texas and the Southwest region," said Linda Beerman, chief fiduciary officer and head of Atlantic Trust's Wealth Strategies Group. "We believe access to tenured wealth planning professionals is critical for our clients."
Schnaubelt joins Atlantic Trust from Wells Fargo's ultra-high net worth family wealth division, Abbot Downing, where she was director. Previously, she was a partner with Strasburger & Price, LLP, and a principal for the management consulting business within Avatar Associates, LLC. Prior to Avatar, Schnaubelt was a partner with Woodard, Hall & Primm, PC. She began her career as a family office controller with Axel Johnson E&P Corp. Schnaubelt is a member of the Real Estate, Probate and Estate Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Probate and Estate Section of the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Estate and Financial Forum, and Attorneys in Tax and Probate. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from South Texas College of Law.
