As Mother's Day Approaches, Moms Applaud "Mighty Fine" via Social Media
NEW YORK, May 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- "Mighty Fine," a new independent film, starring Chazz Palminteri, Andie McDowell, Rainey Qualley and Jodelle Ferland, recently created an exclusive online red carpet premiere for over 100 Mom Bloggers, who collectively reach over 500,000 readers. The film, directed and written by Debbie Goodstein, will open in theaters on May 25.
"I have never seen such a consistently positive reaction online. This movie was universally loved by moms," said Drew Neisser, CEO of Renegade, the NYC-based social media agency.
Mom bloggers who participated in the campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting, received access to an online showing, via Constellation, the leader in interactive social media events on Thursday, May 10.
"I spent half the movie on the edge of my seat, wondering what would come of Chazz's character, and if the wife, played by Andie McDowell, would garner up enough strength to escape with her daughters before it was too late," wrote Robin of inspiredbysavannah.com.
Moms felt strongly that the movie offered an important message. "As a parent, this movie was a stark reminder of how harmful unpredictability and uncontrolled anger can be toward children of any age," noted Victoria of victoria7401.blogspot.com. "I think this film is a must-see ~especially for parents, teachers whose lives are intertwined with children," added Stephanie of littlepunkypie.blogspot.com.
What differentiated the film, for the moms, was the honest portrayal of emotional abuse. "This film shows that there necessarily doesn't have to be physical violence in order to cause pain within a family," wrote Anna of mama-writes.com
Participating moms appreciated the online viewing format, as well as the video chats with the stars that followed. "After the movie, we actually were able to 'interview' both Rainey Qualley and Chazz Palminteri through webcam on Constellation. It was fantastic -- and I'll admit, thrilling," wrote Rachel of smallstepsonourjourney.com.
"I have never seen such a consistent, viral reaction to a movie before," said co-executive producer, Barbara Goodstein. "I am overwhelmed by the results and delighted to see how these mothers connected with this film."
Moms also acknowledged and appreciated that "Mighty Fine" is an independent film created by a female writer and director. "I think this is a great independent movie, written and directed by a woman about a subject that few movies have addressed in such a truthful and honest manner. If you're looking to support a non-mainstream, non-Hollywood movie – definitely consider checking it out!" wrote Rachel of smallstepsonourjourney.com.
