ARTEL Selected by GSA and DISA as the First Winner Under New $5 Billion Satellite Services Contract Vehicle
RESTON, Va., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- ARTEL, Inc., a global leader in information technology and managed telecom/network services, was named the first contractor to provide satellite services under a new $5 billion General Services Administration (GSA) and Defense Information Services Agency (DISA) joint-contract vehicle. The 10-year Future COMSATCOM Services Acquisition (FCSA) combines the DoD's ComSatCom acquisition vehicles DSTS-G and Inmarsat with GSA's SatComII, which will allow ARTEL and others to compete for orders government wide.
Through FCSA the Government can acquire any part of or a fully managed end-to-end satellite services solution in any commercially available COMSATCOM frequency band, including L-, S-, C-, X-, Ku-, extended Ku-, Ka- and UHF.
"Being selected as the first awardee under FCSA is recognition of ARTEL's diverse portfolio of global, secure, managed communications services and the ability to meet the stringent and evolving satellite requirements of the U.S. government," said Abbas Yazdani, president and CEO of ARTEL. "From the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community to civilian agencies like the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA, among others, satellite-based communications are often the only reliable means of sharing information where land-line capabilities don't exist or have been destroyed."
ARTEL currently manages over 5.5 GHz of capacity worldwide and plans to compete for Government requirements in the 1) Transponded Capacity, consisting of dedicated satellite bandwidth and power in any commercially available frequency band; and 2) Subscription Services, including preexisting, pre-engineered Fixed or Mobile Satellite Service solutions including terminals tied to a service, in any commercial frequency band under this contract.
