Army Veteran D.G. Moore and Navy Veteran Howard Goldman Announced as Veteran's Day Giving Back Contest Winners at Airgun Depot
Friends and family nominate Veteran's Day Giving Back Contest winners for their selfless service and commitment to helping others. Moore and Goldman were chosen among hundreds of entries from across the country.
DRAPER, Utah, Nov. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Airgun Depot, one of the largest volume dealers for airguns, airsoft, and shooting accessories in the U.S., is proud to give back to the nation's veterans. The company sponsors its 'Veteran's Day Giving Back Contest' through midnight of the holiday each year, and the 2013 winners are veterans D.G. Moore and Howard Goldman. The men will be featured in the Airgun Depot customer spotlight and awarded an air rifle courtesy of Crosman, Hatsan, RWS, JSB and Birchwood Casey.
"Airgun Depot is honored to give back to the veterans who have served our country," says Marketing Manager Scott Thomas. The company is popular among the veteran community. "This year, we wanted to honor two veterans who have sacrificed their time to help, serve and protect others."
Nominated by his wife Annick, MAJ (P) D.G. Moore is an Iraqi war veteran who served in the U.S. Army for 24 years. He is a decorated service member who was disabled during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF-1). Moore shot expert in both rifle and pistol qualification on all military ranges during his long and distinguished career as a reloader, military rifle range instructor and primary trainer. He is a graduate of Norwich University.
To honor Maj. Moore and help keep his skills sharp, Airgun Depot will send him a Crosman MTR77 Nitro Piston® air rifle mounted with a scope, a hard shell case, targets and ammunition.
Veteran Howard Goldman joined the Navy straight out of high school, and went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for several years. Unable to ignore his desire to serve others for long, he would answer his calling by becoming a respected police officer with the City of Phoenix Police Department in Phoenix, Arizona.
Nominated by his friend and fellow Cub Scout leader Henry, Goldman actively mentors his son's Troop. Henry explains that "[He] quickly took our meetings ... to 'the next level' by introducing gun safety [and] sport outings that involved ... BB and pellet guns, and taught our Den and Troop the importance of shooting safely." To honor Mr. Goldman and his efforts to teach boys how to use firearms safely, Airgun Depot will send him a Hatsan 1000X Vortex air rifle in a hard-shell case with targets, ammunition and a mounted scope.
The Airgun Depot 'Veteran's Day Giving Back Contest' is part of a series of product giveaways and contests the company sponsors each year. In honor of the many veterans who entered, the company will host an After Veteran's Day sale all week. Customers will save 42 percent off single purchases of a (Refurbished) Crosman TR77 Air Rifle w/ Scope through Tuesday, Nov. 19.
