Are We Ready for the Day Before Tomorrow?
Leading Voice for Homeland Security Industry Launches Its 9/10/11 Project
WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Homeland Security & Defense Business Council today launched a year-long thought leadership project that will release monographs on the 10th of each month to document our nation's response to the events of 9/11 and ask, are we ready for the day before tomorrow?
Through fresh interviews with industry leaders, the 9/10/11 Project seeks to illustrate vividly the strides our government at all levels, working with the private sector, has made to secure the country and to stay at least one step ahead of events and disasters that could destroy our way of life. "We have embarked on this ambitious project to bring attention to how far we've come and how far we need to go to prevent another 9/11 style attack. As a nation, the public and private sectors have risen to the task of preparing us, and now, as we look to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attack that changed our history, are we any more 'ready' than we were on September 10, 2001? And if so, how?" said Marc Pearl, President & CEO of the Council. "What has the government – and what has the private sector – accomplished to protect and prepare the nation?"
On the 10th of each month between now and through September 2011, the Council will release a monograph that will provide a brief history of our security efforts on a specific topic, as well as an assessment of the future of that topic. Each monograph will include a running timeline (interactive on our website) illustrating the events, incidents, and critical government responses pertinent to that month's topic. Industry leaders will be made available for additional interviews. September 2010's monograph focuses on where it all began: The events leading up to and culminating in 9/11's impact on Aviation Security.
