Friends and families can visit the Anvil Fashion Swap Challenge at Carbonrally.com where they can learn about the energy and climate benefits of clothing recycling, and join others around the world who are committing to this simple action. Each person who accepts the challenge will reduce CO2 emissions by 29 pounds, according to Carbonrally. Participants can see the real-time collective impact of the challenge, and find others in their neighborhood, city, and state that are taking action.
The Fashion Swap Challenge is one of several Anvil Knitwear initiatives to motivate environmental activism in 2010. Anvil is the official apparel partner of Earth Day Network and is a sponsor of Earth Day NY's I am E campaign. Anvil has also developed www.trackmyt.com, an interactive website designed to educate consumers about the carbon footprint of their clothing.
"We're thrilled to be working with Anvil Knitwear, a company that literally weaves sustainability into their products, and leverages their brand to drive awareness and environmental action on a massive scale," said Jason Karas, founder of Carbonrally.
In honor of Earth Day, Anvil Knitwear is also awarding gift certificates to five participants of the Fashion Swap challenge during the month of April.
"Anvil has long been committed to reducing landfill waste from textiles," said Anvil Knitwear's CEO, Anthony Corsano. "One way that consumers can do their part is participating in the Anvil Fashion Swap Challenge on Carbonrally.com. The Anvil Clothing Swap is a fun way to recycle unwanted clothing and refresh your wardrobe."
