ANGA Statement on the Introduction of the Nat Gas Act of 2011
WASHINGTON, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following is a statement by America's Natural Gas Alliance President and CEO Regina Hopper on the introduction of the Nat Gas Act of 2011 by Representatives John Sullivan (R-OK), Dan Boren (D-OK), John Larson (D-CT) and Kevin Brady (R-TX). The measure would promote the purchase of natural gas vehicles (NGVs) and the construction of fueling infrastructure. ANGA also released today an online video promoting natural gas as a clean, American transportation choice.
"We appreciate the leadership that Representatives Sullivan, Boren, Larson and Brady have shown in putting forward this promising and timely bipartisan legislation. This is a strong step forward in continuing the momentum around greater use of clean, American natural gas for transportation.
"Whether your concern is U.S. energy security, local air quality, or the price at the pump, natural gas vehicles offer a compelling solution to help address some of our nation's most pressing energy needs.
"Companies like UPS, Verizon, Ryder and AT&T recently have made announcements demonstrating their commitment to natural gas vehicles, and highlighting the many benefits this business decision is having on their bottom lines and for the environment.
"Thanks to the ongoing work of these Congressional leaders, alongside leading U.S. companies and last week's endorsement of natural gas vehicles by President Obama, NGVs are rightly getting the attention and priority they deserve as a cornerstone of innovative solutions to our nation's energy and environmental challenges.
"We look forward to working with the bill's sponsors and all champions of American natural gas to ensure our nation takes full advantage of what this abundant domestic resource can do to propel our nation forward."
