WASHINGTON, June 22, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The President and CEO of Amtrak, Charles W. "Wick" Moorman IV, will discuss the challenges facing America's passenger rail system and the changes to come at a National Press Club Luncheon on Wednesday, July 12.
Moorman's speech will focus on the renovation of New York's Penn Station and other needed infrastructure projects, as Congress considers President Trump's pledge to invest $1 trillion in infrastructure. Moorman became Amtrak's president and chief executive officer effective Sept. 1, 2016. He is the tenth executive to lead America's Railroad since the company began operations in 1971. Prior to coming to Amtrak, Mr. Moorman spent approximately four decades at Norfolk Southern Corporation and its predecessor Southern Railway.
Amtrak and its partners operate on more than 21,000 route miles in 46 states, the District of Columbia and three Canadian provinces, moving more than 300 trains each day — at speeds up to 150 mph — to more than 500 destinations. Amtrak also is the operator of choice for state-supported corridor services in 15 states and for four commuter rail agencies.
Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for Press Club members (members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $39 for all other non-member tickets. Please click here to purchase tickets. For questions, please email [email protected] or call (202) 662–7501. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
