Americans Rate Dandelions as the Most Aggravating Lawn Weed
GreenView® with GreenSmart® Broadleaf Weed Control plus Lawn Food Helps Control Weeds
LEBANON, Pa., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dandelions are the most aggravating lawn weed, according to a new survey*. The online survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Lebanon Seaboard Corporation — manufacturers of GreenView lawn and garden products — asked 2,307 U.S. adults what they rate as the most aggravating lawn weed of whom 1,898 were identified as having a lawn. In addition to dandelions, U.S. adults who have a lawn cited crabgrass, thistle, clover and chickweed at the top of their lists of the most aggravating weeds.

Broadleaf weeds, which include dandelions, are some of the most pervasive and difficult to control lawn weeds. This is particularly true in the spring, when dandelions poke their yellow heads to spoil the best-laid plans for a beautiful lawn. Members of the broadleaf weed family require a weed control treatment that comes into direct contact with the plant's leaves and should be applied once leaves appear. Weed and feed should be applied when the lawn is wet with morning dew, or lightly moistened, so the granules cling to the weeds' leaves.
GreenView with GreenSmart Broadleaf Weed Control plus Lawn Food helps control over 250 weeds+, including dandelions, clover, spurge, plantain, chickweed and henbit. It also fertilizes the lawn in one easy application to promote a weed-free, brilliant, green turf color. Fertilizers with GreenSmart help lawns develop tolerance to heat and drought stress too, so lawns retain the green color longer and recover from stress more quickly than unfed lawns. Lastly, GreenView with GreenSmart enhanced efficiency fertilizers are a no-phosphate formulation that include a proprietary slow-release nitrogen ingredient for strong roots and long-lasting results not found in most other lawn fertilizer products — both important elements with changing state regulations regarding lawn fertilizer application in some regions.
"Over the next couple years, homeowners will want to pay attention to changing fertilizer regulations in their area. In addition to no-phosphate requirements — the "P" in the N-P-K, we're seeing a trend toward state-mandated requirements that increase the amounts of slow-release nitrogen required as a percentage of the fertilizer formulation, or when you can fertilize. With our products, such as GreenView with GreenSmart enhanced efficiency fertilizer, once you apply it — you'll be done for the season. The slow-release nitrogen provides a lawn with controlled, steady nutrition, resulting in thicker, heartier grass. That means no excess growth too, and even better — less mowing," said Bill Kelso, executive director, sales & marketing, Lebanon Seaboard Corporation, consumer products division.
In addition to the Broadleaf Weed Control plus Lawn Food, other GreenSmart options include Crabgrass Control plus Lawn Food, Lawn Food, Fall Lawn Food, and Starter Fertilizer. Products are available now at independent retail chains nationwide, online at www.greenviewfertilizer.com and in select Lowe's stores.
