American Transplant Congress 2010: Breakthrough Data & Interactive Forums in San Diego
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 10th annual American Transplant Congress 2010 (ATC) is the foremost educational event in the field of basic and clinical transplantation. This joint meeting, sponsored by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST), will occur from May 1 – 5, 2010 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA.
ATC 2010 features new audience response sessions along with hundreds of presentations covering crucial data in transplantation science and medicine. Meeting highlights include Specialty Symposia, Allied Health Symposia, stem cell biology, regulatory issues, infectious disease, hot topics, and more.
The conference will present two state-of-the-art addresses: Michael J. Bevan, PhD, FRS, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and University of Washington, will present "Regulation of the CD8 T Cell Response," and Shimon Sakaguchi, MD, PhD, Institute for Frontier Medical Sciences at Kyoto University, will speak on "Regulatory T Cells for Immunological Tolerance."
Controversial topics and important new research and data will be presented in the daily sessions. Recognizing the need for focused coverage of "hot" topics in transplant medicine, ATC 2010 features an expanded session called "Transplantation In Depth." This year's programs will be "Towards Tolerance in Transplantation: Who are the New Players" on Sunday, May 2, and "Calcineurin Inhibitors: Love 'em or Leave 'em" on Monday, May 3. A fun, interactive session is also offered on May 3, "Transplant Jeopardy: Essential Infectious Disease" with top doctors solving clinical challenges.
Presenters include the most respected and knowledgeable professionals in transplantation science and medicine. New worldwide research and discoveries will be presented through symposia, oral abstracts, concurrent workshops, poster presentations and small group sessions.
