American Honda's 2010 Hybrid Music Festival Events Kick Off at the Sasquatch! Music Fest
Honda's greening efforts include the solar-powered Big Foot Stage, hybrid vehicle display, carbon offsets and bicycle-powered recharging station
TORRANCE, Calif., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- In the tradition of American Honda's sustainability efforts at music festivals in 2009, Honda will act as an official eco-partner for the 2010 Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington over Memorial Day weekend, the company announced today. As an official eco-partner, Honda will present the festival's solar-powered Honda Big Foot Solar Stage with a nearby Honda Hybrid Zone displaying Honda's hybrid vehicle fleet: the CR-Z sport hybrid coupe; Insight hybrid sedan; and the Civic hybrid sedan.
As the kickoff to summer in the Northwest, the Sasquatch! Music Festival features an eclectic gathering of indie rock bands and singer-songwriters, mixed with alternative rockers and hip hop acts. A few of the 90 bands confirmed for this year's festival include, My Morning Jacket, Massive Attack, Pavement, Vampire Weekend, MGMT and Public Enemy. Every year, the festival brings more than 70,000 attendees together to experience noteworthy music in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly atmosphere. These two priorities match well with Honda's long-term support of the arts and Honda's overall environmental leadership.
"We have found that Honda customers are as passionate about the environment as they are great music," said Tom Peyton, senior manager of Honda national advertising. "Honda's 2010 Hybrid Music Festival Events allow our company to merge two worlds our owners care deeply about in a fun and socially responsible way."
In addition to Honda's Hybrid Zone display of hybrid vehicles, the Hybrid Zone will also feature education on the fundamentals of sustainability affecting concertgoers, Honda hybrid technology and Honda's other socially and eco-responsible initiatives. A Honda "charging center" powered by bicycles will be available within the Hybrid Zone for attendees to ride and charge their phones, PDAs, cameras and other electronic devices. Carbon offsets for the majority of the greenhouse gas emissions created by the Sasquatch! Music Festival will be provided by Honda through Carbon Harmony.
