American Education Group Looks to Northern California as Fusion Academy & Learning Center Continues Rapid Growth
Private School Offering One-to-One School Model to Open in Bay Area
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On the cusp of opening three additional Fusion Academy & Learning Center campuses in Southern California in the coming months, private school operator American Education Group (www.AmericanEdGroup.com) has announced that it is seeking to expand the successful school model to Northern California by the summer. The Northern California school will be the seventh replication of the model in just over a year.
The continued expansion of Fusion Academy (www.fusionacademy.com) and its one-to-one learning model for students in grades 6-12 occurs as Grand Rapids-based AEG seeks to reinvent the concept of school around customization, specialization and individualization of programs designed to meet student needs. AEG hopes to open its first Bay Area Fusion Academy campus in June – potentially in Downtown San Francisco – with two additional campuses targeted to open in early Fall 2011. In addition to San Francisco, the company is looking to choose from potential locations in San Mateo, Palo Alto, Cupertino and Los Gatos.
Fusion Academy & Learning Center was started more than 20 years ago in founder Michelle Rose Gilman's San Diego-area garage, and has experienced rapid growth since being acquired by AEG in December 2008. The school's commitment to each individual student is resonating with parents of children who have difficulty in the traditional school setting. After opening the first satellite Fusion Academy campus in Los Angeles in February, AEG opened additional campuses in Mission Viejo in September and most recently in Huntington Beach. Demand at the Los Angeles and Mission Viejo campuses is high, with growing student waiting lists at both schools. In April, three additional campuses will be opening in the Calabasas, Hermosa Beach and Pasadena communities around Los Angeles.
Fusion Academy's state-of-the-art educational model tailors teaching methods to the needs and interests of each student. Each Fusion Academy campus includes a full mixed-media art studio, a state-of-the-art music and recording studio, a Homework Cafe® and a social area.
"Parent interest in Fusion Academy has been exceptionally strong in each of the communities we've looked at since first deciding to replicate the school's learning model outside San Diego," said Peter Ruppert, AEG's founder and CEO. "We serve a specific market that is seeking an educational alternative that will help students maximize their academic and social potential and our research shows that the Bay Area is ripe for Fusion Academy."
