American Airlines Celebrates Universal Pictures' The Bourne Legacy By Unveiling Covert Content To Customers
Scenes from the Upcoming Action-Thriller Shot Inside American's Terminal 8 at JFK International Airport and Onboard an American Airlines Boeing 777-200 Aircraft
American Also Launches Promotion Featuring AAdvantage Program 'Operatives'
FORT WORTH, Texas, July 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines today announced it has unveiled exclusive content and launched an American Airlines AAdvantage® promotion and sweepstakes to celebrate Universal Pictures' upcoming film, The Bourne Legacy, which is in theaters Aug. 10, 2012.
American's involvement with The Bourne Legacy was made possible because of American's long-standing relationship with NBCUniversal. American was able to provide location assistance during the filming of The Bourne Legacy, and several American Airlines employees had roles in the film. Scenes from the action-thriller were shot inside American's Terminal 8 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and onboard an American Airlines Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
"As we anticipate the film's release, we know our customers and fans of the Bourne franchise will be excited by the AAdvantage promotion and the chance to win a travel package to experience their own adventures throughout the world," said Rob Friedman, American's Vice President – Marketing. "Working with Tony Gilroy and the great team at Universal Pictures during the filming of The Bourne Legacy was a thrill for many of us at American because it allowed us to showcase one of our international aircraft and American's world-class Terminal 8 at JFK in the film."
American Airlines customers will be able to experience the Bourne franchise, including exclusive content from The Bourne Legacy, through inflight and online channels this summer. The first three Bourne films – The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum – will be available on tablet devices in premium cabins onboard select transcontinental and international flights through the end of August.
Universal Pictures produced a behind-the-scenes piece highlighting its relationship with American and scenes from The Bourne Legacy that were filmed at JFK and onboard an American Airlines aircraft. The exclusive video will be part of American's inflight NBC programing through the end of August and will also be shown on tablet devices in premium cabins onboard select flights. To go behind-the-scenes, visit AA.com/NYC.
In addition, the Aug. 1 issue of American Way magazine will feature the star of The Bourne Legacy, Jeremy Renner, on the cover. The feature will give readers a first look at the new Bourne film and will highlight what it takes to shoot part of a Hollywood movie on a real airplane and inside a working airline terminal.
American is also bringing The Bourne Legacy to customers around the world with screenings and a number of promotional activities planned in the United States, United Kingdom, Latin America, Asia and Australia.
American yesterday launched an AAdvantage promotion tied to The Bourne Legacy entitled, "Welcome to the Program." The promotion, which runs through Aug. 31, features short video and audio clips of current AAdvantage members (aka "Operatives") sharing tips about how to earn AAdvantage miles – not just for flights, but also for hotels, cars, shopping and dining. Completing the program will allow participants to unlock special mileage-earning offers and then enter a sweepstakes for a VIP travel package. One Grand Prize winner will be awarded a package featuring 200,000 AAdvantage miles, a six-night hotel stay, a rental car, a $750 shopping spree and a $500 gift certificate from the AAdvantage DiningSM program. Participants can share the sweepstakes – via Facebook, Twitter or email – and test their newly acquired skills in specially designed missions for a chance at even more prizes on The Bourne Legacy tab at Facebook.com/AAdvantage.
