AltaSens Introduces 4K Monochrome Low-Light Camera Module
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AltaSens, Inc., a leading pioneer in high-resolution CMOS imaging system-on-chip (iSoC) sensors at HD format, introduced a new 4K low-light camera module: the 4K Pro Night-Vision. The intensified unit is the first commercially available low-light, ultra-high-resolution camera module. The highly sophisticated video engine generates multiple formats at blazing frame rates for resolute security, surveillance, life sciences, robotics, and astronomy applications.
AltaSens will showcase the 4K Pro Night-Vision at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, from April 7 to 10 in booth C12033.
"We are pleased to offer this low-light-capable module to demanding imaging customers in need of a versatile turnkey camera engine," explained Jake Onodera, Executive Vice President.
Lester Kozlowski, AltaSens Founder and CEO, further explained, "This night-vision module represents the merging of advanced camera and sensor technology to deliver, without compromise, superior image quality regardless of lighting, format or frame rate. We thank JVC Kenwood and Stanford Photonics for enabling this unique module in partnership with AltaSens."
Key features include the following:
- Turnkey intensified VGA-to-UHD camera engine with video recording and still image capture with limit of detection to single photon counting levels
- Advanced imaging signal processor for on-the-fly format changes with seamless image quality management, including various SNR-enhancing binning modes
- 4K video mode at 60 fps; Full HD video mode at 240 fps
- Video recording to SD card or direct output via HDMI 2.0; Still photo capture to SD card
The 4K Pro Night-Vision is powered by the combination of Stanford Photonics' leadership in extending the limits of electronic visualization and detection, AltaSens' AL41410C sensor, and JVC KENWOOD's advanced imaging-signal processor to deliver 4K and beyond at fast frame rates.
The AltaSens AL41410C is our next generation Super-35 size image sensor. Its ability to generate 4096 x 2160 format images makes the AL41410C extremely attractive for producing 4K cinema in the latest UHD cameras. Operating the sensor at a 3840 x 2160 resolution is ideal for Ultra HD video. Alternatively, the 1920 x 1080 HD format at 240 fps is best for sports broadcast or special effects support where clear slow motion playback is vital. Its native 4512 x 3008 resolution is fully operable to 50 fps.
The 4K Pro Color Night-Vision camera module will be available in late 2014. The AL41410C is also available in the AltaSens 4K Pro RGB, a state-of-art camera module that generates 4K through HD video at multiple optical formats and frame rates. Lead time and competitive pricing available upon request.
