LAHAINA, Hawaii, July 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Flying into New York and landing by the TKTS Discount Booth in Times Square on July 5 and in Herald Square on July 6 will be Maui Jim's "Flying Jimmy," an event experience that brings a little Aloha Spirit and the world's most technologically advanced sunglasses to the center of fun in New York City.

The event, staged by the world's fastest growing maker of premium polarized sunglasses in cooperation with Sunglass Hut, will offer visitors the chance to experience the benefits of superior eye protection and a sneak peek at the season's newest sunglasses styles for sports and fashion. Each day, the event runs from 10 AM to 5 PM. At nearby Sunglass Hut stores in Times Square and Herald Square, Maui Jim's hula dancers will make a visit from 1 to 3 PM each day.
The company, whose sunglasses were invented on the beaches of Maui, makes the world's only sunglasses to use patented PolarizedPlus2® lens technology that cuts 100 percent of UV rays and 99.9 percent of glare while enhancing color. Through visual experiences at The Flying Jimmy, visitors can witness how vision is transformed by this proprietary technology that instantly makes colors more vivid and allows you to see things that would normally be blocked by glare.
New sunglasses on display will be the glamorous Kanani sunglasses, an oversized feminine cat-eye frame that comes in trend-setting colors like Twilight Fade, Tortoise and Peacock and Grey Tortoise. Oversized full-frame nylon frames, like Ailana, are popular this season. This style comes in colorful matte finishes for a new twist on style. Beating the heat for active sports enthusiasts is Hot Sands, Maui Jim's most aggressive rimless style. For people who love to spend time on the ocean, lakes, rivers or streams, visitors can check out Maui Jim's ON THE WATER Collection of sunglasses with features specially designed for anglers, boaters and water sports enthusiasts.
Prior to arriving in New York City, The Flying Jimmy, named after the company's mascot (Jimmy the macaw), made its first appearance at the Arizona Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in January and has since traveled to the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series and TriRock Triathlon Series events, the Atlantic City Boardwalk, as well as other special events through the year.
"Time and again, people put on our sunglasses and all you hear is 'Wow!' because they can literally and immediately see the difference in how they can view the world around them," added Alicia Wroblewski, sponsorship and events specialist at Maui Jim. "The Flying Jimmy is a great way for more people to see how much more clearly and colorfully everything can look when wearing Maui Jim."
