ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- From the floor of the HIMSS11 Conference & Exhibition, Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX) today demonstrated native integration between its Sunrise Clinical Manager acute care Electronic Health Record (EHR) and the Allscripts Enterprise and Professional EHRs for large and mid-sized physician groups.

The demonstration of integration between the company's ARRA-certified acute care and ambulatory Electronic Health Records is a prelude to the scheduled availability of this integration for the Allscripts client base by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
In addition, Allscripts will be developing a common platform for all of its core clinical solutions, including its stand-alone Emergency Department Information System, hospital Care Management and Homecare solutions. This integration will be designed to enable centralized, robust and highly intelligent information exchange and messaging capabilities to facilitate centralized scheduling, referrals, reporting, analytics, and security and audit functions.
"The native integration of our acute care and ambulatory solutions without the need for third-party software brings to life the Allscripts vision of a Connected Community of Health, and is well within the time frame we set out when we announced our merger with Eclipsys last summer," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "Hospitals want to and need to connect their employed and affiliated physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to share real-time information, including a single patient record across all care settings. But most hospitals can't afford to rip and replace everything they have. Allscripts is now in a unique position as the only company that can deliver one connected network on one common, open platform providing one patient record to clinicians and patients across the care continuum – while at the same time being open to alternate solutions, should the client desire."
Hartford Health Care Corporation On-Schedule for Integration
An early adopter of the Allscripts integration, Hartford Health Care Corporation (HHCC) in Hartford, Conn., is the parent organization of Hartford Hospital. The major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Connecticut Medical School, non-profit Hartford Hospital uses the Sunrise Enterprise™ suite of solutions in its hospitals, and the Allscripts ambulatory solutions in its physician practices and homecare agencies.
"We are very excited about being an early adopter of the integration between the Allscripts acute and ambulatory applications, a significant element of our mission of providing true continuity of care across our network of hospitals and physician groups," said Stephan D. O'Neill, Vice President of Information Systems for HHCC, which includes 1,141 licensed beds, 150 employed physicians, 11,000 employees and more than 165,000 annual emergency department visits. "In line with our expectations, the project is on schedule. The clear benefit is that this will ensure that our providers have the information they need to deliver the safest and best patient care across multiple venues of care."
With the power of one network, one platform and one patient record, HHCC's clinicians in the physician's office, Emergency Department and hospital will have immediate access to identical, comprehensive records on a patient who, for example, visits his or her local physician, then visits the ER and is ultimately admitted to the hospital. Shared, integrated patient information empowers providers to make safer, more informed care decisions, work as a more efficient team to coordinate care, and deliver superior outcomes.
