PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education is pleased to announce that its annual Land Use Institute will be presented Friday, December 12, 2014, at Perkins Coie LLP in Washington, D.C.
Now in its 30th year, this essential CLE program focused on land use practices is the premiere event for attorneys looking to polish their skills, update their knowledge, and rekindle their enthusiasm for this constantly evolving field of law.
This year's program features a keynote luncheon address entitled "Takings: 100 Years in 60 Minutes" by Gideon Kanner, professor of law emeritus at Loyola University, and Michael M. Berger, a partner with Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. Professor Kanner and Mr. Berger will review the past, present, and future of eminent domain and regulatory takings law, based upon their combined years of practice.
"My co-chair Gideon Kanner and I have worked closely with the faculty in an effort to fine tune both the presentations and the course materials, and we feel that the 2014 Course will provide significant 'take home value' because of the 'practice pointers' approach being taken by both the outlines and the faculty presentations, as well as the opportunity for interaction with the faculty," explains program co-chair Frank Schnidman, executive director of the Center for Urban and Environmental Solutions at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. "Attendees will gain the kind of self-appreciation and intellectual satisfaction from having knowledge of land use at the cutting edge," added Mr. Schnidman.
This program is designed for attorneys, professional planners, and government officials involved in land use planning, zoning, permitting, property development, conservation and environmental protection, and related litigation. It not only addresses and analyzes the state-of-the-art efforts by government to manage land use and development, but also presents the key issues faced by property owners and developers in obtaining necessary governmental approvals.
