Alere Inc. Announces Extension of Consent Solicitations Related to Its 9.0% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2016, 8.625% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2018 and 7.875% Senior Notes due 2016

WALTHAM, Mass., June 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Alere Inc. (NYSE: ALR) (the "Company") announced today that it has extended the expiration dates for each of its consent solicitations that it previously announced and commenced on May 31, 2011 relating to its 9.0% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2016 (the "9.0% Notes"), 8.625% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2018 (the "8.625% Notes") and 7.875% Senior Notes due 2016 (the "7.875% Notes," and, together with the 9.0% Notes and the 8.625% Notes, the "Notes").  

The consent solicitations will now expire at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on June 13, 2011, unless further extended or earlier terminated.  The consent solicitations were previously scheduled to expire at such time on June 8, 2011. The extension of the expiration date relates to both (i) the consent solicitation with respect to certain proposed amendments and waivers relating to the setting of record dates for certain purposes under the respective indentures governing the Notes and (ii) the consent solicitation with respect to certain proposed amendments and waivers relating to the provisions of the respective indentures that limit the Company's making of certain restricted payments.

The implementation of the proposed modifications is subject to the valid delivery of consents by holders of the Notes (as of the applicable record date) with respect to a majority of the outstanding principal amount of the 9.0% Notes, the 8.625% Notes and the 7.875% Notes, as well as the other conditions set forth the solicitation documents, as previously supplemented (the "Solicitation Documents").
