Aisin Test Track to Host Training for Local Law Enforcement
Proving ground will partner with Livingston County Sheriff Department, insurance companies to provide accident avoidance, road safety training
FOWLERVILLE, Mich., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- A local Tier One automotive supplier will host another training program to benefit the community – this time for law enforcement officers from around Livingston County.
FT-Techno of America, an Aisin Holdings of America company, said it will open its 870-acre test track and proving ground in Handy Township this month and next for a vehicle awareness/risk avoidance training program designed to assist police officers to stay safe on roads and to help prevent accidents.
FT-Techno is no stranger to lending a hand in the community. It also hosts annual paramedic drivers training for Livingston County EMS, and the Street Survival School for teen drivers. The company says partnering with local law enforcement is a win-win situation.
"For us, it's another way to help the community, and be a good neighbor," said Terry Takano, vice president, FT-Techno. "Our law enforcement professionals are critically-important and we feel privileged to be able to help them by donating the use of our facility for their educational benefit."
The training program is being coordinated by the Livingston County Sheriff Department and will also include law enforcement agencies from municipalities across the county, says Undersheriff Mike Murphy.
"We are delighted to help bring this program to public safety departments around Livingston County," says Murphy. "All of us are responsible for enforcing laws and keeping our citizens safe, but we also have a fiscal responsibility to help keep expenses down, and use tax payer dollars wisely. This training and the generosity of Aisin will help us accomplish those goals."
Participating police departments expected to attend the training include Green Oak Charter Township, Hamburg Township, Fowlerville, Pinckney, Brighton, Howell, and Unadilla Township. Murphy added that the training is made possible thanks to a grant from the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority.
For its part, being a good corporate citizen is part of the heritage of Aisin, which has some 151 companies around the world.
"Aisin companies are extremely committed to their communities," adds Takano. "It's an important value we share at all of our facilities, with all of our team members."
