AGTECH efficiency expert GrowSafe partners with Wheatsheaf Group
CALGARY, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - Leading Canadian agriculture technology provider GrowSafe Systems Ltd (GrowSafe) which helps make livestock feeding more efficient and improve animal health and wellbeing, has entered into a strategic alliance with Wheatsheaf Group Limited, a company which is part of the Grosvenor Estate and invests in businesses that offer solutions to resource constraints in food, energy and water.
The partnership will accelerate research and development and support GrowSafe's global expansion.
GrowSafe has pioneered the use of radio-frequency identification (RFID) and sensor based systems in livestock production. This technology enables farmers to improve animal feed conversion efficiency, saving money and reducing the impact on the environment. By continuously monitoring individual animals and using big data analytics, farmers and ranchers can identify sick animals earlier; improving animal well-being and profitability.
GrowSafe founder Camiel Huisma, said: "This is an unprecedented time for GrowSafe. We are at a convergence of interconnected sensors, advanced computing and automation that is leading us into new territory."
Alison Sunstrum, GrowSafe's CEO, added: "Our customers are our greatest advocates and with their support we have developed a system that will revolutionize livestock management. We are extremely pleased to have partnered with Wheatsheaf. Their values of stewardship and integrity and our shared goal of driving improvement in food production will help us grow the business faster and reach more customers sooner. Wheatsheaf's investment will enable us to improve our technology and strengthen our ability to bring science based decision-making tools to our customers."
Graham Ramsbottom, Chief Executive Officer at Wheatsheaf, said: "GrowSafe is a technology platform that has proven its potential to improve efficiency in the bovine sector. It further strengthens our portfolio of businesses that seek to make better use of finite global resources in the field of food production."
"We look forward to working with Alison, Camiel and the GrowSafe team to help enable the livestock industry across the world to raise animals more efficiently and help meet increasing food demands," he added.
