MURRAY HILL, N.J., Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --Glowpoint, Inc. (OTCBB: GLOW), a leading global provider of cloud managed video services, today announced that Afilias uses Glowpoint Cloud Managed Video Services to drive growth in its new internet Top Level Domain (TLD) business.
In an effort to raise awareness of the benefits of new internet Top Level Domains, Afilias teamed with a panel of experts from Columbia Business School, Deloitte, and Landor to provide objective and credible information to customers in a live video webcast event that was viewed around the world. The live event was supported by a suite of Glowpoint services, including:
- Video webcasting: The 2 hour interactive panel discussion was broadcast to participants on PCs and laptops all over the world.
- Video bridging services: Videoconferencing systems from LifeSize, Polycom, and Cisco/Tandberg connected panel members from New York, London, U.K., and Frankfurt, Germany.
- Business-to-business (B2B) video exchange services: Three separate networks were connected to support the event.
- Remote monitoring and management services: Glowpoint's Video Network Operations Center (VNOC) remotely pre-tested all of the videoconferencing systems and monitored the video call and webcast.
Over 150 people representing companies interested in new Top Level Domains participated in the live event, resulting in over 40 qualified leads for Afilias. The webcast was recorded via Glowpoint's webcasting services and made available on the Columbia School of Business website.
"Working with Glowpoint on this opportunity felt more like a partnership than working with a vendor," said Roland LaPlante, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Afilias. "Not only did they help us demonstrate the technology and build the case for an interactive webcast internally, they also came to us with a complete solution that addressed all of the risks associated with an event of this magnitude. Simply put – we could not have pulled this off in a short period of time without an experienced and committed cloud managed services provider like Glowpoint."
The results of the event, including a link to a recording, are documented in a case study available on Glowpoint's website at http://www.glowpoint.com/solutions/casestudies.asp.
"Glowpoint is pleased to support Afilias with this innovative use of visual communication," said Stephen Vobbe, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Glowpoint. "While travel reduction is still the number one driver for companies to invest in this technology, more and more we are seeing advanced uses of video. This is a great example of using video to open up new revenue channels."
